The Traitor Son Cycle
The name given to the creatures of the wilderness. It refers to any creature which is not of the civilized world, generally meaning not of any human race. It is not known when men started to use this term, but it's believed to be linked to the fall of Old Morea and the subsequent emergence of sentient animals (and worse).
In a strict sense of the term and according to the scholars of the Ardentia, it only refers to sentient beings that are not of human race that seem to have some sort of power over wild creatures that make them do things they normally would not. Thus, common folk are usually suspicious and weary, using the term on any animal or being, even their domesticated livestock.
The wild has frequently attacked civilized lands, and the borders to the west and north of Alba consist of a great wall, known as The Wall, reminiscent of the threat this poses on the realm of men. The last time the Wild attacked in any great force however, was 25 years ago, which culminated in the Battle of Lissen Carak. Since then, the Wild as been more dormant, but there are rumors of something stirring in the western wilderness, and more frequent attacks in the Northern Provinces lead many to speak of a new coming.
